Confession: it took only one episode of Tidying up with Marie Kondo for me to pile up my dresser drawer contents on my bed. I’ve always loved organizing my clothing (years of working retail is definitely to blame) but Kondo’s folding technique has totally upped my game. The drawer that saw the biggest improvement? Underwear. Who knew tiny squares was the answer to organizing your intimates?

However, my recent decluttering spree left me with a gap in my underwear drawer (old undies definitely don’t spark joy!) that I chose to fill with WAMA Hemp Underwear. Here’s why:

1. Hemp is more eco-friendly than cotton.

Did you know that hemp is insanely good for the environment? The hemp crop is naturally resistant to pests, needs no pesticides to grow, and even improves soil quality. In contrast, conventional cotton is known as the world’s dirtiest crop due to the immense amount of poisonous insecticides that are used to grow it. These chemicals are known to pollute waterways and poison farm workers and wildlife. Unfortunately, although hemp fabric has a very similar feel to cotton, it’s historically been mistaken for marijuana and therefore overlooked. I choose hemp over conventional cotton whenever possible for this reason alone.

2. Hemp has natural anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-odor properties.

Bacteria in cotton and polyester can live for months at at time (yuck), while a chemical found in hemp known as cannabinoid is naturally anti-bacterial and anti-microbial. Hemp underwear is actually the sanitary choice. A company in Colorado is even working on creating scrubs made out of hemp fabric in order to fight the spread of staph infections in hospitals (goodnet).

3. Comfortable and soft.

After wearing WAMA Underwear for a couple of weeks, I can attest that they are the most comfortable undies I have ever worn. The fabric is incredibly soft and the boy-short design fits like a glove. They are equally comfortable for wearing during the day, to sleep in, and even to workout in. Hemp is also known to be a particularly strong fiber, so the brand promises that they are extremely durable, long-lasting, and will actually get softer over time.

They’re a bit pricey at $20 each, but you can get a pack of 10 for $160 that includes a hemp pouch bag. I’m so glad I got the pack of 10 because these are the only undies I’ve been wanting to wear lately. Check out WAMA Underwear here and get 20% with code GREENWSTYLE!
