One reason I started Green with Style was to have a platform where I could share the amazing new eco-friendly brands that I discovered during my journey to living a greener lifestyle. Today, meet an L.A. local: Christy Dawn.
I first noticed Christy Dawn while browsing Instagram (shoutout to the ‘Gram for being the best eco-brand discovery tool I’ve found yet) and was immediately attracted to their environmentally friendly brand values and vintage-inspired designs. Christy Dawn garments are made from deadstock fabric, which means they source their materials from leftovers used from other fashion houses. With this kind of production model, mass-produced fast fashion is traded in for exclusivity and (in this case) better quality. Companies that are using this kind of creative solution to decrease their environmental impact are exactly what excites and inspires me the most about the sustainable lifestyle movement.
I visited the Venice Christy Dawn store over Memorial Day Weekend and fell in love with the Dolly Jumper. Made of deadstock rayon gingham, this jumpsuit is a more daring alternative to the traditional dress for a summer evening out. Here, I’ve paired it with a brown leather skinny belt in order to create more shape at the waist during my visit to Santa Barbara.
