Since the passing of 2018’s Farm Bill legalized hemp in the U.S., it seems that CBD has taken over the skincare world. Lotions, serums, and vitamins are all promising the anti-inflammatory benefits of Cannabidiol, THC’s non-psychoactive cousin. With the truly mind-blowing results I experienced with the Cannuka CBD Healing Skin Balm, I know that CBD products can live up to the hype.

So when I came across a brand that brought CBD into makeup, I knew I had to try it. Untouchable Beauty’s HydraBoost Lip Gloss Serum claims to hydrate and plump the lips while calming the mind and body. I switched out my usual lip balm and lipstick with Hydraboost for a week to see if it could deliver. Read on to see what I thought.

Hydration: 5 Stars

Hydraboost truly delivers on hydration. This year especially, despite steady application of my usual lip balm over the winter months, I’ve been suffering from dry, chapped lips. After I started using Hydraboost, all signs of chapping were completely gone, so the difference was truly noticeable. While conventional lip gloss usually feels like it’s sitting on top of my lips, making a base-layer of hydrating balm necessary, I can feel my lips actually absorbing the Hydraboost gloss. No such base-layer is needed. Truly a great time saver, especially for someone who usually forgets to reapply lipstick or lip gloss over my lip balm as the day goes on.

Plumpness: 3 Stars

As Hydraboost caused my lips to be more hydrated, they did feel plump in a moisturized way. The only reason I’m rating plumpness with a three, however, is because I expected “plump” to mean noticeably fuller, which they are not. I find the term “plump” to be a little misleading in that regard.

Mind and Body Calming: 4 Stars

I was especially suspect of the internal effects that this gloss could deliver, but my mind and body did truly feel calm while I was wearing it. It seemed to slightly take the edge off of my anxiety levels, and make my body a little more relaxed. I have a naturally pretty positive and easy-going disposition, however, so it’s hard to tell 100%.

Beauty: 5 Stars

Being makeup, after all, the visual enhancement of my features is the most important part of this product, and one that I’m enthusiastically happy with. The nude tint really complimented my skin tone perfectly, giving me that no-makeup makeup look that I’m always striving for. Its slight sheen makes my lips stand out more, without looking overly shiny. I also appreciate that it smells and tastes like peppermint.

Overall, I definitely plan to make Hydraboost a part of my daily makeup routine. Other than CBD, the other ingredients used to make it are also organic, vegan, paraben-free and phthalate-free.
